RxKids applications for Detroit expectant mothers launched on Monday, February 9. Eligible expectant mothers receive $1500 one-time cash assistance during pregnancy and $500 monthly cash assistance for the next 6 or 12 months. You must be a Detroit resident at least 16 weeks pregnant or have legal guardianship over the child after birth. You may sign up until your baby is six months old. This is no-strings attached cash assistance to reduce the financial burden during pregnancy and follow the birth of a child. This was Madam Mayor Mary Sheffield’s first announcement shortly after entering office to provide resources to young families.

Your quality of life and dignity matter. Madam Mayor Mary Sheffield made an announcement to address senior building compliance and safety on January 26, 2026. To protect seniors and residents with disabilities, the City of Detroit is providing enhanced inspection protocols; effective inspection and enforcement actions; increased consent agreements and legal measures; direct engagement with property management companies; and resident engagement and support by new Senior Advocates. The goal is to achieve 65 Certificates of Compliance by August 2026. Connect with new Senior Advocates today by contacting them directly or through the Housing Resource Help Line at 866-313-2520.
