Peer Recovery Services

The Elmhurst Home, Inc. (EHI) SOAR - Building Communities of Recovery (BCOR) Project serves adult men and women at varying points of substance abuse (SA) recovery in Detroit, Michigan.  BCOR’s goal is to mobilize resources within and outside of the recovery community to increase the prevalence and quality of long-term recovery support from substance abuse and addiction.  Elmhurst Home is seeking to partner with community and faith-based organizations to bring healing to the Detroit Community.

The varying points of recovery include pre-treatment, actively engaged in treatment, and post-treatment engagement.  The project also works with family members to include children whose parents struggle with SA.

The demographic characteristics include African American, Caucasian, Hispanic, Arab American, and Native American populations ranging in age 18-67 years old to include individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning.

The project seeks to expand access to peer recovery support services (PRSS), namely recovery coaches for 300 individuals.  We are targeting faith congregations to be able to spread and give access to recovery services to one's members.

The severity of the nation's drug crisis is ever-expanding as evidenced on this interactive drug overdose map for all 50 states.  The time to act is NOW!
